Location Decisions will take the stage at the 22nd edition of the European Manufacturing & Supply Chain Summit (EMS) in Munich on November 3 - 4, joining our North American partner Biggins Lacy Shapiro & Co. (BLS & Co.) for a joint presentation on the changing realities of manufacturing site selection across Europe and North America
The 30-minute session, “Site Selection in Europe and North America: Overcoming Today’s Key Constraints,” will take place on Wednesday, November 4, from 9:40–10:10 in Room one as part of the summit’s Solution Spotlight program.
Manufacturers considering new facilities today face a markedly different location environment than even a few years ago. Power availability, workforce constraints, shortages of suitable and investment-ready sites, permitting roadblocks and changing government policy are increasingly influencing not only where companies invest, but also whether projects can be delivered within the required timeframe.
Drawing on current site selection experience from both sides of the Atlantic, Andreas Dressler, Managing Director of Location Decisions, and Tracey Hyatt Bosman, Managing Director of BLS & Co. will examine the most significant constraints affecting manufacturing investment decisions and how companies can navigate them more effectively.
The session will look at how power and infrastructure capacity are narrowing location options, how workforce shortages are reshaping manufacturing footprints, and how the availability and readiness of industrial sites can affect project timelines. It will also explore permitting challenges, the growing influence of government policy, and the steps companies can take during the site selection process to reduce risk and identify locations where projects can realistically be delivered.
By bringing together perspectives from Europe and North America, the presentation will offer a cross-regional view of how site selection conditions are changing and what manufacturers need to consider when planning their next investment.
